State Police Troopers attempted to stop 20-year-old Roberto Robles at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, when he committed a vehicle and traffic violation while traveling on I-95 in Mamaroneck.

While attempting to stop Robles, police said that he proceeded to fail to comply with troopers and evaded the traffic stop at a "high rate of speed."

The chase was short-lived, as Robles attempted to exit I-95 at exit 18 (Fenimore Road / Mamaroneck) when he lost control and struck a guardrail, rendering the vehicle disabled. Robles was taken into custody without further incident.

Robles was arrested at the scene and transported to New York State Police Headquarters in Tarrytown, where he refused a breathalyzer.

He was charged with: resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, unauthorized use of a vehicle and reckless driving, all misdemeanors.

Robles was also cited for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Following arraignment, Robles was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or bond. He is due back in the Town of Mamaroneck Court at a later date to answer the charges.
